This drill focuses on securing a Gogoplata from a high mount position by trapping the opponent's arm and using your leg to apply a powerful choke.

Drill Steps

1

Establish a mount position.

  • Ensure good base and control.
  • Keep your weight heavy on them.

Reach one arm underneath the opponent's head.

  • Bias your weight out to the opposite side.
  • Be cautious for a bridge and roll.

Bring your knee over your opponent's arm

  • Cover their arm at the bicep level with your wrist
  • Slide your knee over their arm
  • Post with your open arm

Remove your hand from under the opponent's head.

  • Push their hand under your armpit.
  • Pin your elbow to your hip to trap their arm.

Get your leg below their neck

  • Lift your leg
  • Pin their elbow to your hip on the other side.

Bring your knee over the top of the opponent's head.

  • Lift your leg and bring it across their neck
  • Fall back onto your butt. and prepare for the submission

Lock the Gogoplata position.

  • Bring your closer hand over your shin.
  • Get a thumb-inside grip on their far side.

Finish the choke.

  • Pull on your established grip.
  • Push away with your shin to create pressure.
