The Short Version

DrillBuddy is built with your privacy in mind. Your drills, sessions, and training history stay on your device — we never store or sell your personal data. We do collect anonymous, aggregate usage data to understand how people use the app so we can make it better. You can turn this off at any time in Settings.

Your Training Data

Everything you create in DrillBuddy — your drills, moves, sessions, and training history — is stored locally on your device only. It never leaves your phone unless you explicitly choose to export or share it yourself.

Anonymous Usage Analytics

To help us understand how the app is being used and where to focus improvements, DrillBuddy collects anonymous usage data using a service called PostHog. This includes things like:

  • Which screens you visit
  • Which features you use (e.g. starting a session, creating a drill)
  • General stats like session duration and drill count

This data is never linked to you personally — no name, email, or account is ever created or associated with it. PostHog stores this data on servers in the United States. You can read their privacy policy at posthog.com/privacy.

You can opt out at any time by going to Settings → Privacy → Usage Analytics and toggling it off. Once disabled, no analytics data will be collected or sent.

Session Sharing

If you choose to share a training session, a unique random link is generated containing only the session's statistics (drill names, duration, reps). No personal information is attached. Sharing is always optional and only happens when you initiate it.

Microphone Access

DrillBuddy requests microphone permission due to a third-party audio library (expo-audio).

The app does not record, store, or transmit any audio.
