Drill Steps

Start in half guard

  • Establish a strong half guard base

Place your top leg as a low knee shield

  • Drive your knee into the opponent's hip pocket

Cross your feet for control

  • Ensure the bottom leg is crossed closer to you

Place both hands on the mat

  • Trust your low knee shield to defend your back
  • Lift your body while keeping your core tight

Walk your hands backward on the mat

  • Use your opponent's forward pressure to facilitate movement

Complete the sweep

  • Land on top of the opponent
  • Attack the legs or try to pass for side control
