Shoulder Crunch Sweep from Closed Guard

This drill involves isolating your opponent’s arm with a tight shoulder grip, shifting your hips underneath them, and using controlled elevation and rotation to off-balance and sweep them to the mount.

Drill Steps

Break the balance of your partner

  • Get an underhook with the palm away
  • Connect your hands with a gable grip
  • Squeeze the sharp side of your forearm
  • Target the soft area on their shoulder

Make them move their neck

  • Keep your hands locked
  • With your elbow push their head

Finish the sweep

  • Get your feet in butterfly position
  • Lift your legs up and move on top
