Perform a hip bump sweep from closed guard when your opponent has their weight on you.

Drill Steps

Break down your opponent's posture.

  • Drive them down with your legs
  • Use a 'brush stroke' to open their arms

Open your guard and place both feet on the ground.

  • Ensure your base is stable
  • Keep your hips close to your opponent

Sit up and turn your body towards your opponent.

  • Bring your armpit to their opposite shoulder
  • Maintain connection as you sit up

Secure a grip on your opponent's arm.

  • Grab their elbow
  • Alternatively, grab their sleeve

Drive your hips into their chest and sweep.

  • Use your free leg to generate power
  • Pull their arm in tightly as you turn
  • Roll over your shoulder to complete the sweep
