This drill teaches the 'Knee Elbow Escape', a methodical escape from a heavy top position to transition into a strong half guard.
Drill Steps

Establish defensive frames.
- Bring opponent's hands to the floor
- Set up an inside elbow position
- Form a cross frame with your other arm

Expose and trap your opponent's foot.
- Bridge and straighten your leg
- Close your knee down to trap their foot
- Prevent their foot from being underneath your leg

Execute the knee-to-elbow wedge.
- Sizzle your legs for movement
- Extend one leg away while pulling the other knee to your chest
- Shoot your knee up towards your elbow to wedge their knee

Extend out to complete the escape.
- Create space by extending your body away
- Transition smoothly into a half guard position
- Prepare to initiate counter-offense from half guard
