Execute a high-percentage Bow & Arrow Choke from back control by creating a strong cross-body angle.

Drill Steps

Start in back control with a seatbelt grip.

  • Maintain your hooks.
  • Keep tight to your opponent.

Open the lapel on the underhook side.

  • Expose their neck.
  • Use the hand from your underhook side.

Secure a high lapel grip with your top hand.

  • Slide your thumb deep inside.
  • Keep your elbow across their shoulder.

Grab the far-side pants with your free hand.

  • Release your underhook.
  • Get a firm grip on the fabric.

Remove your hooks and sit back.

  • Bring your feet off their hips.
  • Allow them to roll into your lap.

Move your head towards their far-side knee.

  • Create a strong cross-body angle.
  • This will tighten the choke.

Cross your feet over their shoulder.

  • Block their escape and defense.
  • This takes away a hand for defense.

Straighten your lapel-gripping arm.

  • Pull the lapel across their neck.
  • Maintain the cross-body angle.

Extend your body to finish the choke.

  • Pull your head towards their knee.
  • Apply consistent pressure.
