Dummy Sweep from Seated Guard

This drill focuses on executing the dummy sweep from a seated guard position, using an underhook and leg control to unbalance and take down your opponent.

Drill Steps

Establish seated guard posture

  • sit upright with active feet
  • maintain a safe distance from your opponent

Get your feet in position

  • reach deep behind the opponent's Achilles heel
  • be sure that this is done fast, so the opponent won't have time to react

Push your opponent back

  • you can target their shoulders if their center of balance is low
  • target above their knees in case their center is higher

Alternatively, make them go back by themselves

  • pull them towards you
  • when they try to defend by pulling back
  • snap your legs behind their heels and release
