A controlled way to escape lockdown or quarter guard by using foot positioning by Gordon Ryan and Placido Santos.
Drill Steps
1
Move to the side of your partner
- Move the open foot behind the partner's hamstring
- Drive your weight backward and stay to the side

Trap your partner under your knees
- Grab and pull your partner's far knee
- Pull until both knees are under your hips
- Step your free knee up and over to leg ride

Win the Elbow and Crossface
- Drop your left elbow to collapse their elbow
- Pass your hand inside for a crossface
4
Flatten and Pass
- Drive the crossface to turn the head down
- Slide the open knee across and pull your locked leg
- Free your leg and you are in side control
