Drill Steps

Drop swiftly from open guard to double unders.

  • Swing both hands down simultaneously.
  • Land on your shins, not just your knees.
  • Swim your hands under their legs as you drop.
  • Avoid moving limb by limb to enter.

Establish heavy pressure in the double unders.

  • Load one side of your body more than the other.
  • Take your knees off the ground to increase pressure.
  • Position their leg onto your shoulder.
  • Lock your hands or use a forearm for added pressure.

Pass the guard by moving around their leg.

  • Do not throw their leg away.
  • Keep their leg in place and circle your body around it.
  • Maintain constant pressure throughout the pass.
  • Come up with head control and secure wrist control.
